It’s stinkbug season in Indianapolis, according to a report by WCNC. Peter Jentsch, an entomologist from Cornell University, says that these insects start being active in March and April—but their objective is to find a way out of your house. They’ll try to come back inside starting September to shield themselves from winter. Jentsch states that stinkbugs are more of a nuisance than a threat. They won’t eat your things and they don’t bite. The annoyance comes from their defense mechanism. When threatened, they secrete a substance that tastes and smells foul, hence their name. You may simply leave the bugs alone, and let them complete their journey out of your house. However, if you have kids or pets in the house, it’s only a matter of time before you get a whiff of the stink.
